CommunityAmerica Credit Union expanding branch network in Kansas City metro

Credit Union deepens relationship with Walmart to help more consumers

LENEXA, Kan. (08/27/2009) -- CommunityAmerica Credit Union, the largest credit union in the Kansas City metropolitan area, is expanding its branch network during the next several months through its agreement with Walmart. The addition of three branches, and closing of one, is designed to ensure the Credit Union is always meeting the needs of its members. The expansion is expected to create approximately 10 new jobs.

"We're pleased to be expanding our network to 31 branches to reach new members and provide additional convenience to our existing members," said Dennis Pierce, CommunityAmerica CEO. "Like other great retail partners we work with, Walmart places particular emphasis on providing customers with the best value, which mirrors our commitment to make member benefit our first priority."

The expansion includes a full-service in-store branch opening Sept. 1 at 11601 E US 40, Kansas City, Mo., in the Blue Ridge Crossing shopping complex near the Truman Sports Complex. Additionally, CommunityAmerica plans to open two in-store branches before the end of October in Walmart stores under construction at 10824 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., the Village West Walmart near CommunityAmerica Ballpark, and at 10300 E 350 Hwy, Raytown, Mo. These new in-store branches will be full-service, offering loans, ATM services, checking, savings, CDs, as well as investment advice by appointment. The branches will be open seven days a week for added convenience to members. CommunityAmerica continually evaluates its branch locations to ensure it is meeting member convenience and branch needs, and as a result, will close its White Oak branch on Aug. 28 in the northland because members preferred to transact primarily at nearby North Oak, just a mile away.

"We're proud to be offering job growth in this economy," added Pierce. "We continue to seek opportunities that allow us to serve more members, and attract more consumers to experience the credit union difference, where we put people before profits, and in fact, routinely give money back to our members at the end of the year."
